SCARBOn Releases its Data Management Plan (DMP)

SCARBOn has released its Data Management Plan (DMP) - a document guiding the project’s approach to responsible research data management.

Produced by GRANT Garant, the DMP identifies project main research datasets and presents how SCARBOn data will be stored and shared. It ensures that SCARBOn data management follows the principles of EU Open Science Policy and FAIR data principles, making data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

Throughout the project, several public datasets will be generated, combining numerical and image measured data - mostly derived from direct measurements and fieldwork conducted during the SCARBOn airborne campaign. The campaign aims to demonstrate the performance of the NanoCarb sensor, the heart of SCARBOn’s mission, in a realistic environment.

The DMP also explains how SCARBOn partners will handle diverse datasets — ranging from test measurement to design justification and performance simulations. Public datasets will be deposited in institutional trusted repositories or ZENODO, to support their re-use by the scientific community.

SCARBOn’s datasets are designed to provide validation of its next-generation of instrument suite for greenhouse gas monitoring - NanoCarb and SPEXone - and contribute to Europe’s capacity to monitor CO₂ and CH₄ emissions from space.
